About

The Department of Public Works (PW) provides the community with engineering services, transportation, stormwater systems, facilities and grounds. It is responsible for street and bridge design, construction and maintenance. In addition, it supports multiple other City functions such as blood drives, neighborhood lantern walks, child safety fairs and school collaborations.

PW has also partnered with the Missouri Department of Transportation (MDOT) to implement a cooperative computerized traffic signal system to improve Springfield's street safety and capacity. Pedestrian, bicyclist and neighborhood traffic safety is the special focus of "SGF Yields". Whether you choose to walk, bike or drive in Springfield, it's our top priority that you get there safely and without unnecessary delay.

Join our group here on GivePulse to learn about upcoming volunteer activities with the Public Works team such as our Springfield Yields pedestrian safety program as well as future events. Visit our web site for more information.
