Help give Springfield a refresh this April in preparation for the National Route 66 Centennial Kickoff Celebration and America’s 250th Celebration! The Clean Green Springfield city-wide cleanup and beautification initiative invites individuals, families, and service groups to sign up for a one-time litter cleanup of a street or stream segment in need of a refresh. Get your team together, choose your cleanup location, sign up, then we’ll give you all the trash bags and supplies to conduct your cleanup.
Step 1: Get registered
Decide on a street/stream segment you’d like to clean up. This could be a segment in your neighborhood or nearby your school, business, church or local park OR you could select from a list of segments in need. This may also be a section you are already adopting through Adopt-A-Street/Stream program. During registration, provide information about yourself or your team and fill out a waiver form.
Step 2: Pick up your supplies!
Beginning Tuesday, March 31 through Friday, April 24, swing by the Busch Municipal Building (840 N. Boonville Avenue) to pick up the supplies and information you and your group will need. Pickup times are: Tuesday mornings (8 a.m. – noon), Thursday afternoons (1 – 4 p.m.), or Friday lunchtime (10 a.m. – 2 p.m.).
You’ll get free trash bags, volunteer information, waiver forms and fun Clean Green giveaways. This is also a chance to speak with program coordinators and ask questions.
Step 3: Cleanup and Greenup!
Conduct the litter cleanup of the street or stream you registered for. Place all filled trash bags near the street so they’re easy for Public Works crews to pick up.
Step 4: Call to request trash pickup
Call the Citizen Resource Center at 864-1010 to let us know you’ve completed your cleanup and report the location and number of bags for pickup.
Together, we will beautify, enhance community pride and create a clean, welcoming environment for residents and the tens of thousands of visitors expected during this significant celebration.
